So, the thread where Beanz was talking about the ladies got me thinking. We all have a physical attribute about ourselves that we love, or a great acheivement, whether scholarly, physically, or otherwise that we get psyched on.

So maybe we should take this thread to show off some stuff that we have done for others to see. Maybe see if others are interested in the same non cycling activities as we are.

(I didnt search for this, and am hopping in the shower, then going for a ride, then hopping in the shower again, so I will post later. Mods, feel free to ax this if it exists.)

I pride myself, as much as I have pride in anything, on my determination. I'm admittedly a lousy cyclist, but I've also ridden a century ten months after getting on a bike for the first time in my life.

I continue to alpine ski many of the more demanding resorts with very good local skiers.

Here are a few Trip reports that I posted on Epic;

I also pride myself in being one of the world's leading historians on chess. (No, it's not hubris, it's a very small field.) See my big article in the June 2008 Chess Life.

Ok, the day is done and I have some time.

Im proud of graduating college...persevering through it instead of dropping out. Im glad my skiing and backcountry knowledge has gotten to the point where I can do things like this:

I am glad I moved out of New Jersey and got into the hills (NH) and that I have found a job that lets me enjoy the world around me.

And lastly. I am thankful and glad that I have built up a support system of the best friends anyone could ask for. After being dumped somewhat suddenly after a 3 year relationship ("I just need my freedom right now") they really stepped it up and made sure my mind was other places. So yea. (I really didn't mean to go that personal...but it just kinda crept up.)

Oh, and I am really, really, into my own legs/butt. I spend about 20 minutes checking them out every morning.

I have two state basketball championship rings (glory days!). Since then I've picked up cycling, snowboarding and kayaking, soon to start jiu-jitsu. I pride myself on staying active and learning new sports.

I was able to scratch and claw my way into the best Ph.D program in my field and persevere in spite of incredibly adversity. I think my research is going to impact my field of study--although keep in mind that only a few hundred people will care, and even then I'm sure that the initial reception will be negative. Professionally, what I'm most proud of is the fact that my students seem to really appreciate me as a teacher.

I guess my best achievement is the fact that I own a pretty successful business and I'm totally uneducated, dropped out of school in the eighth grade, never set foot in a high school or college.

My favorite physical attribute? I guess my ability to withstand very hot weather, I don't mind the heat.

Other hobbies? I own and fly an airplane and also enjoy sailing and amateur radio. :)

My favorite physical attribute is my wife!:p.....WHen we met she said she was a big sissy. I was very active playing ball. I started playing catch with her in the yard just to stay loose. FOund out she was really well coordianted and actually very strong. Tried her out at racquetball and heck, she was pretty good. So life has been enjoyable cause I get to do the things I like to do. Few years back she donated a kidney to her son. Has a big 10 inch scar on her side where her body was butchered and repaired (surgery:D).The doc says her back muscles needed to be cut to access the organ. We had been riding prior the op but immediately after, she hit the bike again. Had a couple of lite years the the galbaldder gave way. But again, she was back on the bike in no time. Last 3 or 4 years she been doing logging plenty of miles with 3,000 per year.

One of he greatest things about it is that at 5'4, she meets the Athena req's at her weight. I have lots of friends with skinny minnie wives that won't/can't ride for various reasons. Heartburn, make up will smear, helmet hair, I might sweat! Heck, Gina says,"hurry up and remove my liver, I have a ride to do next week":D

Last night's pic after the daughter-in-law's grad party from College. 45, six grandchildren and she just keeps getting better with age!:thumb:
