Thanks. I'm still waiting here in bed for breakfast. I don't know if it'll come though :D

Happy day to all you dads!

+1 - got the kids up, had a nice ride up Pinehurst, then came home and opened my kid made presents (always the best) and a couple of Polar water bottles. Nice.

Happy fathers day to all the rest of you -- looking for some quality messing-around-with-the-kids time today.

Thanks - the kids got up and walked the dog, so I got to sleep in for a change. We're just finishing up breakfast now (my kids made it, so we're having cereal and fruit).

Thanks Ron! This is the little guy that makes me eligible to be feted today . He's also most often the reason I can't ride with the BF crew on weekends :( .

He's doing his first triathlon here. Swam 25 yards, rode 1 mile, ran 1/4 mile. 4 1/2 yrs old.

Nice - is that Lake Del Valle? Every time we go there, we never catch anything (which probably says more about my fishing skills than anything else).

Good eye! Yes, it is. We did repectably but, as always, we let several monsters get away:rolleyes:! One of these days I'm gonna find a bike route out to that lake. The descent back towards downtown livermore looks like fun.

Easy - I do this all the time:

Tassajara south towards Dublin
Left on Highland
Left on Manning
Manning becomes N. Livermore at the sharp right turn
Follow N. Livermore through downtown Livermore and just stay on it past some wineries and stuff (the name of the road changes, but I forget to what) - going through downtown Livermore is a little annoying, but really not bad.
Right on Mines Rd.
Mines Rd bears left - keep going straight into Del Valle.

This is actually a really flat ride - some rollers, but that's about it. You can avoid downtown (and add in some climbing) by going up Old Altamont towards the windmills, and coming down Cross or Patterson Pass.

Not much of a great day here :( mother in law in the house, bossing everybody around and me trying to keep my cool and avoid jail time.

Sounds like a great opportunity for some father's day saddle time....?

I made cgallagh a cherry-apple crisp and let him do what he wanted, which included going to see "Ironman." He wanted a relaxing day and he's succeeded.

He's going to grill filet mignon and corn and peppers tonight. Food coma, here I come!

Thanks, JB. Didn't know Manning becomes N. Livermore. And if traffic through downtown ain't too bad, I think I'll give it a shot soon.

Alan, neither will I :D! By the way, we're very alike. Your name is Alan, mine's Alain (french version). Your son's name is Nicholas, mine's Nicolas (sans "h"). Such a coinkidink! Congrats on your future ironman!

Oh yes! Yes indeed. I planned to stay at home as it was raining outside and I've never ridden my road bike on the rain. But somewhere in between these comments...

"You spend to much time at that computer, that's bad for your eyes!"
"All you have is diet drinks, that's gonna give you cancer"
"Either you tell your children to pick up their rooms or I will"
"If you don't eat meat you gonna get sick"

... I decided it was better for my mental health to get on the saddle and enjoy the rain.

Now is night time already, my shoes are still wet and I have no bike-lights but I swear... if she doesn't STFU soon I'm gonna rig 2 flash lights on the bike with duct tape and ride again till midnight.
