Hi all, I'm new to recumbents, and re-new to bicycling, having hung up my pedals (as it were) in 1984 or so.

Yesterday I went to Woodland Park, Colorado and met Kelvin, the owner of Angletech bicycles. He insisted that I attend a 2 hour orientation, which I was reluctant to do. He told me when I arrived to hang up my pre conceived notions about what I think I want, and be open to the experience of riding a recumbent. My impression was one of greatest confidence in Kelvin, and gratitude for the opportunity to ride all of his bikes before having to make a choice. His is a real service, I think. Heck, the other guy on the 2 hour orientation crashed a very expensive demonstrator, and Kelvin seemed only concerned with whether the guy was alright. (Me? I was hoping the bike wasn't wrecked!)

He was right about pre-conceived notions falling away!

I thought I wanted a tadpole, and I rode several really good quality rides. I ultimately chose a SWB Becchetta (?sic?) 2 wheeler, which hopefully I'll be picking up this week.

I must say that riding a recumbent is a whole lot more comfortable than my old 2 wheelers (Wedgies).

Anyways, I am glad I found this forum, as I learn a bit from reading what you all contribute.

Thanks.

Welcome Stubbicatt.........Sounds like you are on your way to some exciting and above that comfortable and enjoyable rides. Glad you found a good LBS to get you started on the right foot...pun intended. I own both short and long wheel base bents but am thinking about making or buying a trike....after I buy another long wheel base.
There are a lot of people who say bents are more comfortable than the 'wedgies'. Again welcome and enjoy this place.

Nice choice of bikes! I doubt you'll regret it, and you picked a great guy to work with.

Welcome to the forums and to bent riding. I also have the SWB Giro 20 and ride it every workday as my regular commuter. I'm sure you'll love it.

Welcome Stubbicatt. I'd heard good things about angletech and this confirms them. What kind of Bacchetta did you get?
