Are pedals universal?
and how about clipless pedals, what's the with these?
and what does it mean when pedals are sealed?

1/2" is for 1pc cranks and 9/16" is for 3pc

Clipless attach to special shoes. Sealed means the bearings are sealed and not loose.

but can you explain to me more about the sealed vs. unsealed pedals?

If you want to get pedals get sealed. Except sealed is more $$$.

And this comment is a waste of space.

I prefer sealed, they last longer in my area, they're quieter, and it's harder to crush the bearings.

My unsealed Odyssey Jim C's are like 3 years old and they still spin really smoothly. And I've dropped/thrown the bike probably hundreds of times since I've had them. Of course the ends are all scraped up and dented, but oh well.

Still, if you have the money for sealed bearing ones, go for it.

there is better things i can spend the extra $30 on, they arent wheel bearings, they wont slow you down.

Yeah, you could get like a hundred York peppermint patties. Or maybe the services of not-so-high-class hooker.

You could even go all out and buy 3 thousand pennies.

all of those options are way better then some ****ty bearings.

word. im just fine with unsealed bearings. everyone says that sealed bearings spin better and last longer, but ive had the same unsealed pedals for the last 3 years. and i havent blown a bearing yet. people who pay that much for pedals are stupid.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them stupid.. 30 bucks really isn't that much to spend on something that only has advantages and no disadvantages. Besides, roadies and weight weenies probably spend way more than that on titanium/CF nuts and bolts. Now that's a little pointless, but if I was building a bike and had enough money, I'd probably do it too. Not CF, but maybe titanium just for the hell of it.

i just dont like how companies make you pay so much extra for sealed bearings when they dont really make a difference. cheaper and just the same if you go unsealed. the only sealed bearings that you even need are for your BB and maybe, MAYBE, for your headset. otherwise your just spending too much money on just about nothing.

So you run unsealed hubs?
And I resent being insulted for buying better parts on my bike thank you very much.

i forgot to add hubs. and i just think that you dont really need every single little bearing to be sealed. no point.

Speaking of hub bearings, I think mine are on the verge of dying.

Ok, so you either have the lamest, most overused sense of humor (sarcasm to hide the fact that your parts are terrible), or you have no idea.

yea i am really sarcastic. sorry that i was born that way, and that it annoys you. and i do have an idea.
