Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - GPS--garmin edge 705? HELP!!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
so my mom and i were looking to buy my dad a GPS system for his bike for fathers day, and this was the one we were looking at...the Garmin edge 705 with street maps and cadence. we just want a GPS system that can tell him how to get around, no matter where he is or if he has been there before. He is a serious biker and so he will appreciate the heart rate monitering, and he's a gadget head so he'll like being able to upload routes, etc. but can someone break down exactly what this 705 thing does? will it do what we want? also, does anyone know what a microSD card is? or what cadence is? thanks so much for your help...we are kind of working on a deadline as he is on a bike ride across the state now but he'll be back on saturday...so help ASAP is requested. thanks!

My wife got me a Garmin 205, Magellan 3120, and a Spot GPS thing, NONE of them are worth a ,,,,,four letter word for biking or anything, waste of money.
I am sorry, never used the 705 but I like the eTrex, and it comes with a bike mount. But it don't do cadence stuff. If I can't map a course ,,I DON"T want it.

Cadence is how fast you pedal (that is, pedal revolutions/minute).
MicroSD is a memory card; the more memory, the more maps can be stored.
Also, there are dozens of posts already about the Edge -- press the "Search the Forums" button at the top of the page, and type "Garmin Edge 705" in the search box. Then read for a while :-)
