With both of my charity rides completed, I decided this was the week to ride 100 miles in a week. I figured my first step to riding 100 miles in a day is to first do it in a week. I did 81 miles about 4 weeks ago and usually average 50-65. Work keeps me busy and its hard between getting home in time to ride and fighting with mother nature and her downpours this year. My training week on mycyclinglog.com starts on Monday and Ends of Sunday. I use Mondays as a rest day and Tuesday was a washout with rain, so I didn't log as many miles as I wanted to this week--til today.

I woke up needing 45 miles to reach my century, so I woke up at 7AM and rode a nice 21.7 mile route before church. After church I went to my parents house for Father's Day and left around 4. At 5 I got home changed into my cycling kit and went back out for the same route as this morning and came home at 21.6 miles. My wife woke up from her nap and we packed a picnic and rode down the street to the local park and ate a small dinner of PB&J, Fresh pineapple, strawberries and Kiwi, and chips and granola bars. We enjoyed the view of the river and went back home. I came home with 7.2 miles for the third ride today.

So I accomplished 2 milestones today. First is my first 50+ mile day(sorta). It was in three rides, but still logged in 50 miles. Second I finished with 105 miles for the week!!!

My second ride I actually increased my avg mph by .2 mph and finished the ride quicker than this morning. Pretty cool and I just had to share it with you guys!!! Just seems like yesterday I was posting about my first 10 miler.

Very nice. And it was only a couple of months ago that you posted about your first ten mile ride. Newbies, take note of the success our friend in WV has earned.

Way to go -- I love reading your posts where you're making a habit of your methodology -- set a goal, reach the goal, set a new goal!

Thanks everyone!!!! I'm big on goal setting, this keeps the carrot in front of me that I need to stop chasing. Plus my big goal for the year is to ride the C&O in 2 days, so i'm setting smaller goals that will help me reach my larger goal.

Congrats! I just hit that magic goal myself. Managed to get out for 6 rides this week: a 14-mile, a 15, two 16s, an 18, and a 28-mile killer on Sunday for a total of 107 miles. I need to try to ride more hills during the week. That Sunday ride included some rather moderate climbs and they kicked my butt!
