Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A couple of weeks ago I made a post about the new Gunnar Sport I ordered. Here's that link (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=42068) .

Now, an update:

I decided on a saddle. Brooks B-17 titanium in honey.

I also decided to get top bar levers often found on cyclocross bikes in addition to the regular brake levers. I did it because I ride a lot with my daughters where we start and stop all the time and I spend all my time on the top bars. It'll add a couple of ounces, which I'm not really concerned with.

I still haven't yet decided on pedals. I'm thinking of the two sided pedals where I can jump on with tennis shoes with my kids, but the other side I can lock on with cleats. If anybody has thoughts about that, please chime in.

The bike ought to be ready in a week or so.

Hi,
great choice, now get the Waterford paint job. It's worth every penny. I love Gunnar, hate their paint.
I kept hearing that the Gunnar paint wasn't good, and I didn't care for the regular Gunnar selection anyway, so I special ordered a Waterford paint. I chose the "Rockwall Red" that Waterford uses as one of the Heron Bike colors. Its a dark metallic red with a hint of brown. Here's the color from the Heron web site:

I think it'll be darn sharp with that Brooks honey-colored saddle!

Awesome bike, you should be really happy...

Double sided pedals, light weight they are not. If you are only going short distances you can wear running shoes with Looks or Shimano just fine. If you are going further than 5 miles, I would recommend looking at the double sided Shimano, they perform well, just are heavy.

The Shimano 323 platform/SPD pedals ARE heavy as mentioned, but they work great...have a pair on my fixie as that is the bike I sometimes ride in street clothes/shoes, but the SPD side also works fine when I'm wearing bike shoes.
