Living Car Free - Moving by bike trailer

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Wish me luck today, I am moving all my worldly goods today from my ex's house to my new digs.
I am about 10 trips into the job (the two houses are not that far apart) and there is no end in sight.
If someone knows what god to pray to in order to keep a converted kiddie trailer from failing under load, please pray to that god for me.

Wow, that is commendable. Are you finished yet? I think I'd have fashioned a long-bed trailer for that job. One that could haul a washing machine.
jgedwa, good luck! I actually just did the same thing this past weekend. My wife and I moved to another apartment and my buddy and I did the move with longtails and trailers. We got alot of weird looks but alot of compliments as well! It is tough but it can be done!

How did it go, Jim? I wish more of us were near you. It can be a lot of fun (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bikeportland/sets/72057594080814582/) with company.
Been out of computer reach for a few days since the move.
It went very well. Fortunately, it was not far between the two places, so a million trips with my bike and trailer was possible. Loooooong day, however.
I had a couple of friends offer cars, and I pointedly refused. Partly on principle, partly for the sport of it, and partly as my own personal hair shirt.

I usually lurk in this part of the forums, but I thought I'd mention that I also just finished moving with a trailer (everything except my box spring and mattress). I gave myself a couple of weeks to do it, though. The best part was moving my bikes by bike.
cheers.
