I'm riding a Stevens Strada 600 - all Tiagra. After a spring tuneup I started getting noise from the crank area on the left side downstroke. I could feel it in my foot too so I thought it was the pedal, Wellgo two side. Replaced the pedals with Shimano M324. Better pedals by far but the noise didn't go away.
Took the bike to a different LBS and the mechanic immediately said the crank wasn't properly torqued. He fixed the problem and I was in heaven.
That was two weeks ago. The creak is back, this time at the bottom of the stroke on the left side but not as bad. Could the problem be with the bolts not being able to hold their torque? Should I change the bolts or just have the things torqued again?
Thanks in advance.

What kind of bb do you have? If it is a one piece sealed unit, there is no adjustment on it other than tightening the bottom bracket into the frame.

Sounds can come from anywhere on a bike. There's no magic bullet or answer to your question. Start eliminating components one at a time until you find out what it is.

For now torque the bolt back up and see if the noise persists. And take a loko at this page.
