Background: I had some difficulty removing a GXP crankset when the crank spindle caught on the NDS cups. I finessed it out with a rubber mallet in the end.

Now, as I try to install this same crankset on another bike, I am having trouble again. The cups are installed but when I slide the spindle through the BB shell, the beveled end of the spindle seems to be catching on the NDS BB cup's bearing race. I tried the rubber mallet but I didn't want to force it and potentially break something.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a course of action?

thanks.

Did you try fitting the bits together before installing it? No, of course not.

Try whacking it harder. What's the worst that can happen, dislodging the cup? I mean, you've already been through this once, right?

Or remove it and see what the problem is before having to apply hammer.
