wheres a good site to buy cases of single packet gels for less than a dollar a unit? all of them i find are a buck to a buck 25. and i can just go to the lbs for that price.

Have you considered bulk instead of packets. Hammer Gel is $18 per bottle and you get 26 servings per bottle. You will need the $1.50 flash as well, but that is reusable.

I often grab the gel on sale for $15-16.

Yeah, two main options:

Look for a sale at Nashbar or a similar retailer, there are usually 24 packs of gel for $20.

Buy gel in bulk (one big plastic container) and carry a flask. Hammer gel is easy to find in bulk.

Not quite as cheap as the links above, but REI had both Hammer and PowerGel for $0.83 last weekend. I picked a few extra up while browsing at the local store. But I think that sale is over.

I buy big'ol jars of brown rice syrup from the local store and put them in hammer gel flasks.

Tastes fine and is a good source of carbs (see #1 ingredient in cliff shot).

You should be able to get your necessary salts from your sports drink powder, which I still continue to buy pre-made (primarily HEED).
