Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

print this out, glue to die, keep box on stand next to bike, roll when you are supposed to. try to get at least 60 rolls, hopefully 100.

i am still working on getting the right duration/intensity to truly match a crit.

The 15 second jump side should say "coast 10 seconds first" so that you simulate coasting into a turn and then accelerating out of it. 1:00 soft pedaling, not rest.

Maybe a spreadsheet that automatically generates 60 lines of stuff.

Oh. Make it a playlist, each one in real time (i.e. the 60 seconds at 90% takes 60 seconds to play, and it announces itself first), and then play it in shuffle mode for an hour or whatever. Soft pedaling bit would have Jeopardy music, the others would have some punk hard core rock stuff. Pause would be like wind blowing or something. Or a cassette coasting.

I think you have an excellent idea. Heh. I may make my own mix.

i think the playlist idea is the way to go, although it gets rid of the whole cheap aspect, but i suppose all of us have ipods these days.

the important thing for this is to have the next segment be a surprise, and i think a shuffle algorythm is probably complicated enough for me not to know what is going to happen next.

with enough of this training on the same playlist (crap, maybe even one time through), i imagine that the pavlov's dog effect will be quite substantial, so pick some songs that you guys don't like, or run the risk of having that song ruined.

Ipod's do have an inherent shuffle :p

Of course a shuffling algorithm can be as simple as Random(x). Just use the inherent RNG of whatever program you write it in.

After a few "bad" rolls in a row I would throw the thing across the room.

+1 on not "wearing out" music.

I'm going to work on something for this as I'm a big trainer rider.

my guess is that you want to use a "flash drive" ipod instead of a "hard drive" i pod to make the transitions quicker between songs.

what mp3 editing device will you use to cut the songs down to 1:00, :30, and :15 segments?

maybe ill do this...

next thing you know you're trained to sprint when you hear a certain popular song... and it happens in public

I have an old laptop that's been recruited to be my "iPod" (free laptop with a bad drive, so I just replaced the drive). I'll use Windows Movie Maker and just have songs with big words like "REST!" or whatever. The rest-sprints will have "GO!" somewhere. WinAmp (free) full screen vid and it's done.

All segments will be 1:00, but some will be half easy, half sprint, the others all easy or steady hard work. But with same length it will be easier to time.

I'll YouTube the clips, you can play them using a something or another player (flv?).

But I haven't done this yet as my songs, Movie Maker, and hard drive space are on different machines. I started working on it but gave up after an hour. I need to organize my stuff better.
