I would like to suggest a new Bikeforums subforum for those of us who ride beaters. As someone who rides a bike I found in the garbage, I feel that I face unique technical issues that I would like to discuss with like-minded men and women (and other types of rational agent).

Possible topics include:

Forks: How bent is too bent?
What type of mallet is best for truing your wheels?
Tyre repair with duct tape howto
WHat color was this frame originally?
Getting multiple speeds from your derailleur
Black spraypaint - is there another option?
Will a 27" front wheel work on this mountain bike?

etc.
