Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, it got a whole lot worse after this was posted.
From what I can tell, the site was down for over 12 hours, and has only just now come back to life.
As a professional website and database developer (and a BF advertiser), that is a completely unacceptable level of service.
What was the problem?
Has it been fixed?
Was it related to all the other recently reported performance problems?
What is being done to ensure it doesn't occur in future?

I frequent a ton of sites daily, especially forums, and I've never experienced the issues that I've experienced here. Seems like this site is down at least once a week. If it's server issues, change servers.

You have never experienced the sort of troubles once encountered by Audiokarma.org, the famous audio forums site that started in the early 2000s.
The site was not well funded and experienced astronomical growth in the first 2 years. At least two server upgrades occurred and while migrating and updating the existing servers most of the non-comment data had to be severely stripped down to prevent crashing and still 1-2 weeks were spent down and some of the database may not have been incorporated or had to be manually recreated. The last time this happened the IP address expired and was sold from under them *and they were assured this was ACCIDENTAL...
Despite this, they returned and refocused their site to work on the fevered allegiance of the users to encourage paid memberships, which along with a reorganization of the classifieds and addition of numerous specialty sub-forums seems to have cemented their place on the internet after about 7 years with a recent membership above 20,000.
WE have no huge troubles that cannot be surmounted. I am extremely pleased to be a member here.
