My wife and I are riding a loop ride in August the southern part of which is Reedsport to Eugene. I haven't been able to find any journals of anyone who has ridden the back roads thru there. We'd like to camp on the way. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you, Greg
From Reedsport take Smith River Road to Oxbow Pass, to Siuslaw River, Wolf Creek Road, then Crow Road into Eugene. There are no services or stores along this route (also no traffic), so take everything you need when you leave Reedsport. There are a few good camp spots along the way, it's a beautiful ride, but remote.

When you get Eugene you could also take Crow to the Fern Ridge Pathway to get into town. That would have been my choice when I lived in town because Lorane was in such bad shape and you get a tail wind coming in on the path. Maybe they repaved Lorane in the last couple years though.

Thanks for the route. After coming down the coast I'm sure 'no traffic' will be appreciated. When you say campsites are they campgrounds or just good spots to rough camp?.
Greg
There are 2 developed campgrounds on Smith River Road, one at Smith River Falls, and Vincent Creek. There are several undeveloped camp sites on Siuslaw River, you'll need to treat water here with filter or boiling. There are also undeveloped campsites on Wolf Creek, after you go over the big climb on Wolf Creek Road.
Magicnumber is correct, you can stay on Crow Road instead of turning right on Erickson Road. On Crow, when you get to the stop light at highway 126, go straight, over the RR tracks then into the park just past the RR crossing. The bike path starts here and goes to downtown Eugene.
