Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just recently signed up to the forum and decided to introduce myself here as well since I am from Texas. I live in Irving and love to ride bikes. I have been out of the game for a few years but have recently returned to riding and relize just how much I miss it. Funny how you realize how much you miss something after you leave it alone for a while. Why did I leave? Beats me. I still havn't figured it out yet. I am planning a tour next year and have started training for it. I plan on doing some overnight camping trips to prepare myself for what is coming up. If anyone would like to ride some let me know. Welcome to the forums. I live in Garland and work in Euless, so I see a lot of Irving, though usually at 60 mph.

Dallasmike - I live south of 183 but ride just about everywhere. My big days are usually Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and some on Friday nights after 6:00. I like to try to ride the Compton Trail/Las Colinas area at least once a week. The hills in Las Colinas gives me a work out. Dosn't matter about distance. I have started riding again to lose weight after 10 years off the bike but now I am having a blast.
Saturdays, I like to take the train out to Ft. Worth and ride the trails to Lake Benbrook. The train is only $5 and allows bikes on board. No gas involved. This is a leisurely ride for me as I like to take my time. I havn't rode with anyone yet but I sure the company can really make the miles fly by.
Let me know when you can ride. I'm game for anywhere. - Jason

Several months ago, I went over to Fort Worth, went out east, I think on 4th street? to the Trinity Trail, then looped back north of town and down to Benbrook. It was a cool ride- the longest I'd taken at that time, if that tells you anything. My post is here:

Hey Stephen, That really is a cool ride. moderately long, 30 miles out and back from the train station. I have mapped aroute out around the lake but havn't rode it yet. This weekend I plan on riding it again. Maybe a little out around the lake this time. There are some cool campsites out there and I was thinking about just making a camping trip out of it. The bike path out in Benbrook is real nice with alot of woods and a few crossing of the river. I like the fact Benbrook marks bike right aways on some of their streets too. makes urban riding soooo much easier. It would be nice if there were more paths like this around the metroplex.
I hear they are putting a rail to trail route from Farmersville to Paris but only Farmersville to Wolfe City is open right now. That will be a great ride when it is complete.:thumb:

so far i have done rides of 12, 10, and 7 miles. all pretty much the same route. from my apartment, i take royal lane to riverside down to the north part of campion trail (by the police station). depending on the amount of daylight is how far i go on the trail and turn back. it is not a lack of ability to ride longer, but my bike is not equipped with night time essentials which brings me home...
i am going to try to do a 20 mile route in las colinas this weekend... maybe this one since it rolls right by my house

Hey Dallasmike, I posted a message last Friday here but for some reason it didn't go through. Anyway, any time you want to ride let me know. I can meet you somewhere and we can ride out from there. I am always in the mood to ride. One day this week I will be going down to Cleburne and ride the FM loop around the state park. Seem to be a good ride and low on traffic. I don't go fast and it will be a leisurly ride for me. Probably stop for a few breaks. I will go either Tuesday or Wednesday and the other day will be riding around Irving. Saturday will probably be WRL or FT.Worth. It is a coin toss. Let me know if you can make any of these days. We'll work something out.
I am looking to get some group rides in on Saturdays, so if anyone wants to ride let me know. Will decide on a place and time and ride. Oh, I do like Starbucks so that is always a good meeting place for me. Yeah, yeah I know, Lots of calories. Gonna burn them any way.
