Bicycle Mechanics - Bike Computer

Hi,

I have a Vado wireless computer it worked fine on my mountain bike, but now on my race bike keeps stopping to function while riding, ie the display states 0 for speed or just stays on a number, then when i stop tends to start working properly again.

Has anyone experienced same problem? or would a wired computer be better?

change the battery perhaps?

I would say it's one of the following:

a) The magnet on the wheel has too big a gap from the sending unit.

b) The sending unit is too far from the head unit (or not lined up well).

c) The battery in the sending unit is weak.

For what it's worth, I personally prefer a wired unit to eliminate two of the above possible problems, but it's starting to get hard to find a good computer that's not wireless.

(I actually had my unit quit reading the other day. It turned out that the screw that secures my magnet to the spoke wasn't tighted down enough and the centrifugal force or bumps in the road had made the magnet slide out to where it wasn't being picked up by the sensor.)

I've checked gap seems ok.

The distance is well within the maximum from the sensor to unit.

Will look at battery next, should be ok thought has not been used much.

There is a light on the fork sensor, whiich lights up when the magnet passes but this is lighting up intermittently as the magnet passes, im not sure though if this is normal??

Sounds like the fork sensor battery to me.
