What do we have on the back burner?
Robert from Saturday's ride got me involved in a fun project.

Also on my first chapter of my first novel...but don't expect it out anytime soon:geek:
Keep after the novel. I've written 2 books, both self published, and both sold out. 3000 copies total. Not having more printed!
I'm trying to ride at least 3 times a week, for a total of around 80 miles. Trying to eat a little less too and lose some weight. So far, down 15 pounds. Like to lose another 15. Unfortunately, I'm stable again at my current weight. Though I am loosing around the waist. Think there's some fat to muscle going on. Hopefully some more will drop off soon.

I've posted this project previously, but here it is again..
Found this 1970 Moulton MK3 16" wheeled, dual suspension bike in a garage sale:

Painted the frame with the colors of my alma mater (one of them anyway):

Project is kinda stalled, though. It needs rear brakes, and I got a Sturmey Archer 8speed hub to replace the 3 speed that's on it. I need to order some spokes and thread the wheel. Then it'll be declared done. Should be a really nice townie bike. The dual suspension is very clever and quite comfy....

Training for my second ironman, meanwhile trying to keep the family/work life in balance...that's probably a bigger project! One day, though, I really would like to be more wrenchy. My first project would be to restore a frame into a singlespeed.

Here's the Peugeot I bought for $48, fixed up, used as my commuter, and sold.

Let see:
1. Finish tuning up the Ti bike and go for a shake down ride this weekend.
2. Build the Bott cf bike.
3. I have an old Cannondale frame I want to strip and repaint. I am not sure what to do with the it yet. Maybe a fixie.
4. My wife's old Centurion I want to rebuild.
5. Clean up the garage to make room for the bikes.
6. Sell some stuff on CL to buy more stuff.
7. Find time to do the above.
That's only the bike stuff. My wife has a list of house projects for me to do too. :notamused:

I love the old centurions! Cathy had a beautiful Lemans that we gave away!:cry:
I had a classic Ironman that I won my first race with and someone stole it! I found another and I let some Ah*** ride and he crash and totaled it....:eek:

I just put the finishing touches on the Battaglin a few weeks back - new Cinelli stem, white Stella Azurra bar tape, and brand new custom wheels (White Industries hubs, Velocity Fusion rims, Sapim spokes). Henry and Ron got to see it in all its glory.
Since I went WAY over what I told my wife it would cost to do, I'm planning to lay low for a while, and avoid buying anything more expensive than tires and tubes - and those only when they're on sale!

My only waiting-in-the-wings bicycle projects at the moment are figuring out why the stupid bottom bracket on my fixed gear bike is clicking on every rotation (so annoying), and fixing up my folding bike so that it vaguely resembles a bike that fits me.

That was a flash wash out. That saddle was torn and pretty grungy. It was only a Turbo look-a-like as well so I sold it with the bike (kept my SLR).

Its a Bridgestone Radac and all it needs now is to figure out if I should re-dish the rear wheel with its freewheel hub for single speed or use a dished wheel with freehub and use one of those single speed kits.

My current project is "leaving my car parked". It's going pretty well so far.

This is more of a resolution than a project, and more of an inchoate thought than anything solid...but I'd like to get into some cat5 racing by next year. Really have no idea how to go about it at this point but I've started reading a lot, focusing my 40mi/day commuting into load periodization, and just trying to get my head around the whole thing.

Re: clicking bottom bracket - Have you tried to tighten it? Sounds like the sound of aluminum rubbing against aluminum? I get that all the time...
If you need any help on the Mini, let me know. I've put a stem on mine to give me adequate cockpit reach, a special rear suspension mod to eliminate pogo-ing, and fortified the seatpost to give me more extension beyond the minimum insertion line. Also, I have Big Apple tires and I really like them. All are cheap (except the Big Apples) and easy mods to provide riding comfort. Only other thing I would consider now is the change the cranks for longer ones, so I don't have to spin so fast.... Here she is on a recent trip to Oregon:

Here she is on a recent trip to Oregon:It definitely needs a longer stem, at the least, though I'm thinking of trying to fit it with bullhorn bars on top of that (with an adjustable stem to facilitate folding). Clipless pedals, a better saddle, and better tires are also at the top of the list. As for the suspension, I'm thinking of fitting a dowel where the rubber is, and blocking off the suspension entirely, but we'll see about that.

I have been selling off some bike stuff that I was not using. Im making room for my next toy, a cyclo-cross bike. Racing picks up in oct or nov so I got some time yet.

I had better get to looking over my CX rig and get started on upgrades :lol: (equipment-kind, not racing category-kind, sadly...pathetically...)
