... And the post counts rise...
Actually, I've discovered that I rather like trail running and that I'm rather good at road running. Might try a duathlon next year... a dirty duathlon'd be better, though...

I must admit that I have been hiding in this forum as triathlete and you cyclists really aren't as bad as everyone says you are. As a matter of fact you are all starting to grow on me quite nicely.
I do them all, swim, bike, run but my favourite of the three is the bike. Thankfully it is the longest of the three so it makes it all worth while.

Running on a treadmill does suck, severely. However, running along some of the 42km of golden beaches we have here isn't so bad :p

I wonder if unicycling on a treadmill is any fun? :p

The problem with running is that it really is murder on your joints and back. This is a violent sport, and I'm not sure how I'm going to survive the three months of running that I expect to do this winter... :(

Why don't you ride through the winter?

Ok, I just checked out Winnipeg...a low of 23 today.
You need a winter house.

Only if you run on hard surfaces (like roads). If you can find something softer (i.e. grass or sand) it's much easier to take.

I like trail running a lot. It helps keep your mind working while you are doing possibly the most boring thing on earth. RUNNING!
I must admit if I notice that my weight is tending to get away on me once in awhile I will resort to adding running to my cycling regimen because for me it helps take the weight of extra quick.
Yes, riding on a trainer and running on a treadmill both suck...
If I actually have an extended period away from the bike someday, I would like to try running. It seems like it wouldn't be that bad...

Running is both good and bad... It really doesn't have the poetry of cycling, but you can get up to your aerobic threshold much more quickly.
It's a good workout and, if you do it in the woods, it can be a lot of fun. But it does violence to your joints. The transition for a cyclist can be a bit jarring. Running uses muscles that we don't normally use, so there's a certain amount of pain after the first couple of runs. On the other hand, I'm finding that the average cyclist is more aerobically fit than the average jogger. I think we make better runners than runners.
