Has anyone seen anything like this before? Did it actually work?

Looks suspiciously unworkable to me, actually. The connection of the cranks to the shaft being one major weak point.

Cute idea. If they can make a bike out of bamboo, why not the right cardboard. But I note that it's still a design study, and no one was actually riding it.

He does say in the film clip that the bike is a display only prototype and not for riding.
Not complaining...however if they want to show something, maybe they should take it far enough to be able to show that it is actually ridable.................. my 2 cents

It's cool, but I wouldn't say that it was a workable design or anything. I mean yeah, it would be cheap, but there are so many hi-ten frames that are already built, those should just be re-used.
I wondered why nobody actually rode it, but just wheeled it around. Looks interesting, but may be too hard to engineer.

It seems to be a solution in search of a problem.
