I just purchased this: http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/sandisk-sansa-clip-1gb/4505-6490_7-32577901.html

I had been using the iPod shuffle. The sansa is slightly larger but oh so much better. I love being able to see the title of the song/artist playing. It has A LOT more functionality as well. And the sound is incredible. I finally found a good music set up for my rides.

Just thought I would put a plug in for it, it's a good product.

Yep, if there was an 8GB version, I most likely would have gone with one when I was looking for a new MP3 player a few months ago. Instead I went with the Sansa View, and it has been the best MP3 player I've ever used. Aside from the player being slightly glitchy, (Things like occasionally turing off, freezing for a few seconds, nothing major) I'd say the View is probably the closest thing to a perfect MP3 player that I've seen.

The Clip kind of reminds me of my first MP3 player, a Creative Zen Nano Plus. Small, had a screen, FM radio, insanely easy to use, and about the same capacity and price. If the thing actually played all of the songs that it had on it, I probably would still have it as a backup MP3 player. Unfortunatly, it would only play 1/3 of the songs on it...

No problems yet with this one. It has played all my songs just dandy. I did notice that there is a 4 GB model available now. I'm quite happy with the little guy. Most the reviews say that the FM reception is poor but mine seems to pick up a lot of stations, though I don't use the FM player much, just my biking songs, ya know John Denver, Kenny G and the likes... just kidding!

I just picked up one yesterday. I got the 2gb clip and I am amazed at how far these little mp3 players have come. Years ago I bought what I believe is one of the first ever mp3 players. It was a Creative Rio and had only about 32mb. It cost about $150 and was the only option back then. I could load about 18 songs in that bad boy. Believe it or not The 2gb Sansa clip is the only other mp3 player besides my original Rio that I have ever bought or used. Talk about an upgrade going from a 32mb to this. With the fm radio and the voice recorder features it was too good a deal to pass up.

I already have over 150 songs in the Sansa and it is not half full yet. Plus it is tiny and very light, plus the battery life is good. Definitely worth the money! I have everything from Rolling Stones to Coldplay loaded into it.

I found this excellent site that shows the history of mp3 players and gives reviews. It is going in my favorites. http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2008/03/10th-anniversay-of-the-mp3-player.php
