I was wondering what the relationship of speed on rollers or a trainer is to being on the road. For instance when I am doing a workout on the rollers I have to work my buns off to keep my speed at 30 kph. When I am on the road I have very little trouble doing this. Is this just a perceived effort problem or is there really a difference in the work being done to maintain speed on the rollers. I know that because the rollers do not carry forward momentum that you have to keep up the work to keep up the speed but is that the only reason? I do have the resistance increased on the rollers as well but it is not set to super human levels and I can ride into headwinds at 30 kph for some distance depending on how high the winds are. Maybe there is more resistance than I think there is.

Have you answered your own question, here?

Maybe I did but I don't know. Maybe I asked the wrong question? It's late I'm going to bed and I will rethink it in the morning.
