I have a mavic cxp22 rim laced to formula a flip/flop hub riden for maybe 200 miles...do you think it unwise to take it apart and relace the rim to a different hub? what would be the drawbacks to this, if any?

nah, no problems. I've done it heaps of times, and even with very old rims.

You shouldn't have any problems doing this. Just make sure it's worth the labour cost.

I do stuff like that a lot. Check the brake surface with your finger. If it feels noticeably concave, that's a sign of wear. Once I have the bare rim loose I check it against a relatively flat surface, like a window pane, to make sure that it's not warped.

I actually built up exactly that rim, only it had been used for racing cyclocross and the freehub had shattered inside the body. Got it for $5 on Ebay, reused a hub that I had that was close to the same size, and have been riding on it for several months now.

If you take the spokes off and it's noticeably nonround, it would probably be somewhere between PitA and impossible. But if it's round, you should be good to lace!
