Yep...go here http://www.highroadsports.com/news/173-Columbia-Sportswear-Company-and-High-Road-Sports-Announce-New-Team-Columbia-to-Debut-at-2008-Tour-de-France for the skinny...
Columbia, Garmin-Chipolte, and CSC-Saxo Bank's new kits.... I think all 3 are terrible. Especially disappointed in Columbia's, although it's better than what they had as Team High Road:

columbia's kit is weeeeeak!
They are pretty disappointing.
I find I'm liking the 'classic' unchanged unis the best - Credit Ag, etc. Although the only one of those I ever really liked was Rabobank.

Great team. Awesome sponsor. UGLY kit.
Columbia has the only decent uniform in the entire race. The list of bike shorts colors that look good on men consists of black, and that's the end of the list. These other clown outfits are an embarrassment to the dignity of the male gender. Did you see Slipstream's shoes?

I hate how all of the jersey leaders have matching everything. Give me a break. Do you really need to have a matching helmet and bike? Just the leader jersey is good enough for me.

what classification are you leading?

None. What does that have to do with my point? You only need the jersey. Matching helmets and bikes does nothing for me. I find it too flamboyant and a waste of money.
It don't think the kits are that bad, rather more boring. However I have to ask, is that the best they could come up with?
I sorta dig the yellow and green kits the womens team is wearing.

I think it has to do with the definition of uniform. :D

how many times have you lead a classification in the tour?

I'm sure that means quite a bit to Valverde.

Calvinism ftw.
and a waste of money.

Was that fun for ya?:thumb:
I get the fact that it gives more distinction to the rider and they are proud of their accomplishments. They should be, it is a huge honor to wear any of them. I find that just wearing the jersey is simpler, cleaner and more elegant. The whole kit is too in your face for me.
I can tell you like the whole kit look, or playing devils advocate. Either way I don't care. It's my opinion. Pick this post apart so I can laugh some more.
Columbia is certainly getting it's money's worth out of their new sponsorship deal. How impressive are these guys thus far? Obviously, there is a lot of tour left, but they've already done enough to make the sponsor happy.
BTW, I even like their kits. (flame suit on) :thumb:

These guys are very impressive, Kirchen et al. Even Hincapie leading the paceline yesterday; impressive. I don't like the kits, though; it seems that the european teams just know how to design jerseys, etc.

Their kits look like an attempt to go old school.
Great showing by Columbia this tour and entire season (High Road) for that matter.
The stages of the TdF so far are as though they were designed for the strengths of their riders - rolleur stages with a flat sprinter stage thrown in Cavendish/Ciolek to do their thing. Plus their absence of a true GC contender gives their riders the freedom to really go for it in these stages (i.e. they dont need to hold things in reserve, as much as the teams with GC prospects).
Those kits are very fred though.

They would look better in pink, a la Team Once.
I'm suprised that Columbia hasn't rushed to get some sort of commerical on the tube, taking advantage of the exposure. I guess with such an 11th hour sposnorship deal, that's to be expected.

I wonder if Columbia will start selling cycling kit.

From the mouth of Columbia Chief Executive, Tim Boyle... "Boyle said Columbia has no plans to make racing apparel. Its name appears on bikes through a licensing deal, and Boyle said recreational cyclists are likely to wear Columbia jackets.
For professionals, our stuff is really more appropriate off the bicycle, (The deal) was all about brand building, and brand building primarily in Europe."
