Anybody else heading over to the Tour de Pierce on the 29th? I rode it for the first time last year on my fixie and liked the route.
I plan on doing the 12 mile first, pulling my son in his trailer and my wife on her bike. After dropping them off I plan on doing the 50 mile loop, so I should be able to get a couple of miles in that weekend.

Unfortunately, although I was really looking forward to this, I will be in Hawaii for this ride.
So, you will all have to entertain good thoughts about me, all right?

My mother is paying for the trip (and Mr. East Hill is going as well :D ). Our role is to make sure that my nephew learns a lot about volcanoes (we're going to the Big Island) :thumb: .
Now, if you could look like a nine year old kid....:p ...

Have fun in Hawaii. I wil be doing the 30 mile, I'm trying to get my wife out there also. I was hoping to meet you. I was planning to have the Peugeot Mixte ready. So you, Stringbreaker's wife and my wife could all be on their mixte's.

Make sure to bring your sun block everybody! I am going to get a early start with the hope of completing the 50 miler before it gets too warm. If you pass a big ol' guy riding a yellow bent, make sure to say hi!
Stringbreaker, sorry I didn't meet up with you and your wife. I got there at 8:30 and left at 9:00, wanted beat the heat as much as posible. Hope to see you around some time.

We got there at a bit after 9:00 and took off after registering. Didn't see anyone I knew but I did see the car of a fellow and his wife that go to our church they must have gotten there right about the time you did. It was a really nice ride. We got a lot of nice positive comments on our bikes. I took the Volare and Mrs. SB rode her mixte in fact a couple of people took pictures of her mixte and my daughter said a man took a picture of the Volare at the rest stop. Both bikes performed perfectly. We did the 30 mile except for the wife and daughter they went for the shortcut instead of turning toward McCutchen RD. The daughter doesn't do a lot of riding so her butt was getting sore so they went ahead to the trailhead on Old Pioneer way and waited for me and Brandon. No flats no crashes and the knees held up just fine after icing them down last night and taking some Ibuprofen this A.M. Gregam we will meet one day I know.

My grandson (13) and I did the 50 mile loop--first time either of us have done that distance. We were slow ('bents were passing me--uphill) but finished without taking the shortcut.
Said 'Howdy' to themickeyd at the start.

Stringbreaker, sounds like we just missed, you were probably just minutes behind me. I'm supprised we didn't cross paths at the rest stop. I was riding my '72 Schwinn Sports Tourer. I think the older bikes get alot of attention.

What color is it? I saw a couple of old Schwinns and I'm pretty sure I saw one at the rest stop or at the store in Pacific. We stopped there too. We really took our time I don't think I went faster than 16 mph except on the downhill portion at McCuthchen road. My daughter doesn't ride much and she was having some posterior issues, however she soldiered on and my wife and her took the cutoff and they ended up doing miles according to the computers. The daughters boyfriend and I took the hill. (wish I would have had my triple up front) but we did it and met them at the trailhead on Old Pioneer and went on to the finish. Great ride my wife really loved the mixted she said could have kept riding and would have done the hill with us except she didn't want the kid to ride alone.
The bike is blue, I was wearing my RIE Washington jersey. The jersey got a lot of complements also.

Thats weird cause we were wearing out Washington Jerseys too.

I was done by a little after 11:00, and waited around for 10 or 15 min to see if you were behind me. When is the next ride? I decided I 'm not doing the STP this year, not enough miles in. I am quite happy with the Brooks B17 Imperial and the new set of wheels I built for the bike over the winter. My LBS gave me a bad time about my lacing pattern. I guess some people don't like anything different. :D

Oh we didn't get done till almost 1:00 we really took our time the kid realized she needs to do more riding to toughen up her backside but we still had a great ride it was nice to have the kids along. Her boyfriend and I got to bond on the hill. He was pretty impressed that I did that hill. I told him I should be able to do that and more since I get in a good bit of riding on my commute. He is a good kid with no father around so I am more than happy to fill in.

Only hurts when I breathe.;)

I saw one of you (alone) with the REI Washington jerseys at the first rest stop. You came in shortly after my wife and I. I was on my black and silver Roubaix and my wife was on her silver Sirrus, but they were off lying in the grass somewhere when we saw you. I keep forgetting to take a marker and put "BF" (Bike Forums) on my bib number before a ride. I was wearing a sleeveless, plain yellow jersey.
My wife surprised me by opting for the 50 when we got to the junction. I pointed out the start of the STP "Big Hill" when we passed through the intersection of Pioneer and 72nd. After the 50 she asked if we could go try the hill, and so we did that, too, although we drove to the church parking lot closest to the base of the hill.
Maybe someday I will ride my Raleigh on this ride.

Wouldn't have been me since except for the hill area my wife and I were together with the kids the whole time. We both had the Mt. Rainier Jerseys with Washington on the front.
That may have ben me, however I did see one other rider with a REI Washington jersey.
