General Cycling Discussion - Have a merry Christmas everyone

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Merry Christmas everyone!
All I want for Christmas is gift certificates to the local bike shop. My LBS loved me last year.
Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!

Holiday Greetings and Best Wishes to everyone in the forum and your families.
It will be extra exciting for our family this year as we have a new son to celebrate with. I get to live all those childhood days over again through him. What better gift than that.

SEASON'S GREETINGS, EVERYONE, WHATEVER YOUR RELIGIOUS PERSUASION!!!
Speaking of Hanukkah, I was surprised by the noise coming from outside my office yesterday evening. Tinny music and loudspeadered voices. I stepped out onto the balcony, and was charmed to see that it was the Hanukkah van! A local orthodox temple outfits their van with a giant menorrah on top, and drives throughout the city blasting traditional music and greeting people from the loudspeakers. Frankly, the voices were so muffled, I couldn't tell if they were speaking Hebrew, Yiddish, or English. It's all pretty foreign to this Catholic boy, but entirely charming!

Merry Christmakkah, Happy Solsti-Kwanzaa!
The Hanukkah van often appears at one of the local malls, in a predominantly jewish, upper-middle class area. We refer to them as the Mitzvah-mobiles. They offer FREE LATKES but if you're a jewish man and you take up that offer and get into the van, they nab you and make you do a minyan (prayer). I know of a couple of guys who've gotten sucked in that way. Even if the free latkes sounds tempting, don't go for it! Generally, they don't mean any real harm, they're just looking for new converts. Fortunately, they tend to leave women alone.

From my family to all of you and yours, have a safe and Happy Holiday Season. Best Wishes, DG :)
Have a good and safe festive period. Try to remember the excitement of coming downstairs on Christmas morning and seeing a brand new bike. That's when my love of cycling started.

A local theatre that I am active with is currently running their holiday show: "NOG! A Brave New Christmakwanzukah."
Personally, I prefer the words of Krusty the Clown:
"Here's wishing you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Qwazy Qwanzaa, Teriffic Tet, and a solemn Ramadan."
And don't forget Festivus- for the rest of us!
There really is no such thing. Anyone who ever watched "Seinfeld" will know about Festivus. One of the characters made up the holiday as a protest about Xmas being so commercial, and said there should be a holiday for people who don't want to celebrate Xmas. That's where Festivus came from.
