General Cycling Discussion - Compare Selle Italia saddle against Terry

I am trying to make a decision between a Selle Italia max flite or flite saddle and a Terry Dragonfly. The Dragonfly is the lightest of the three. I know the max will be a little more cushioned with gel than either of the other two. Is the comfort of the max worth the weight?

Any experience out there with both saddles?

I weigh 185 and typicaly ride 50 + mile rides.

IMO, comfort first, weight second. Especially if being used on 50+ mile rides. I know the Flite saddle well. Used one for years. Now I use a WTB Classic on all my rides. I went for comfort. I can't give youmuch on the Terry Dragonfly, except their saddles are very popular.

I rode a Terry Fly (not Dragonfly) for about 1-1/2 years. Liked it a lot.
On my last metric century (Oct 2003) it didn't seem as comfortable as usual.
After a visit to the LBS I decided to try a SA Flite saddle. It took some time to get used to (much firmer - less padding) but after nearly 3 months of riding it I really like it.
I'm 59, 195# :eek: , and ride 30-40 miles 4-6 times a week.

Selle was the supplier for the Fly series when it was
introduced but don't know about the current series.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was more than one
Italian supplier to Terry. The Liberator series has gone through several iterations. Steve

I replaced my Selle Italia Flite Ti with the Terry Fly. I found the Fly to be much more comfortable for me. I ended up putting a Fly on both my singles as well as the tandem. Keep in mind that saddle comfort is as very personal thing. You'd best be advised to try out a number of saddles before making your final decision.
