Hey I live in Long Beach, Nassau county. The only two lbs here seem entirly geared toward the cruiser type market. I have a road bike and would like to get a proper fitting on it however, the only two lbs here seem entirly geared toward the cruiser type market. I seemed to know more about road bikes than the dudes working there. Does anyone know of a place that does a real thorough road bike fitting? Thanks

I would think Brands in Wantagh would do it given their size. Bike Junkie in Bethpage does it, but I would call first.

I had mine fitted quite a while ago at Cycles Plus in Huntington. I think they have the Serotta set-up.

Roadworx also does fittings in Syossett. The shop pretty much only sells full custom bikes, so you'll definitely get a top notch fitting.

Save yourself the effort at Brands. They do not have a fit cycle and, in my many years experience of shopping there, you'll get nothing better than a rudimentary stand-over assessment. Cycles Plus in Huntington has a fit cycle though I don't think they are still a Serotta certified fitting station. In NYC, the shop NYC Velo on 2d Ave has a fitting studio. I also think Bicycle Planet in Syosset has a fit cycle but do not know if they are trained to use it; my guess is that you'd have better luck there than at Brands.

Keep in mind that not too many places are going to be enthusiastic about fitting a bike you already have unless there's going to be a sale in it such as a new stem or seatpost. They fit people for bikes they are buying.
