Road Bike Racing - The future of cycling is bright... and darn cute.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Forgive me if you think I'm pimpin' my own blog, but the most recent post will make you feel good about the future of the sport. I recently worked an event called "Tour de Kids".

Please check out the photographer's link. There are some GREAT cycling shots on there. My fave: the dads riding the tricycles, and the one of Frankie teaching the three girls what to do on the podium. It's the feel-good hit of the summer.
If it doesn't quiet the inner-cynic in you, then you're a lost case.

Brilliant stuff! Thanks for the link.
I just decided to take my 17month old son tricycle shopping this weekend. I'm pumped!

You sure you're not taking him to an economics seminar?

I always thought Frankie was a class act. Of course I've never met him, well, maybe for about 8 seconds at Tour of CT after the race, but not really. In Michigan everyone had Frankie stories about how nice or thoughtful he was, how he'd return to the area to give back to the community after he turned pro. I guess he's still giving back.

He's done with the tie now if you want to borrow it.

Be sure to get a 12-25 block. He's probably a bit young to be churning an 11.

I already checked the UCI website for gear restrictions for children under 2. I'll be sure to bring my gear inch chart with me.
Did anyone yell at them?
I hope not.

That's cool. I wish our area would do something like that.
Kids are short.
And too fat for this sport. ;):)
That is some awesome photography. Thanks for the link ES.

Darn, my work filter is blocking the photographer's site. I'll check them when I get home. I love juniors racing. It kept my brother and me out of trouble (until we stopped racing, when he got into lots of trouble and I got into college). I might even go watch the junior nationals this Summer since I'll be on vacation and my wife won't.
Oh, and your book is on my X-mas/B-day wishlist. Any way the giver could have the book signed by you before giving it to me?

That's really cool. I wonder if there's an event like that around here (Nashville, TN). What a great day that would be to hang out at (and maybe I could convince my daughter to give it a go and get her racing before I do :D)

I forgot about this post about kids racing:

I guess Shimano has some stuff going for kids too.

Yes, in fact, their parents were screaming at the top of their lungs. It was lovely.
