Looking at a "free" weekend that will mean I can ride, but not make a huge trip, etc. There are 2 races, but I think I have kind of sworn off racing for a month or so.

Thinking about turning a century on Saturday. Something close. Unsupported, etc. Would like some new terrain. Anyone interested. I prefer ultra early Saturday.

Saturday. VERY early. The sun rises at like 5:00 am or so, I think.

Quite possible. Will check back in later on today.

You got a route in mind, or just winging it?

I am down for very early. 5 is early, but 5:30ish-6 might work well. It would be awesome to be back before noon so I guess more like 5-5:30.

Basically I was going to go with either the Psimet Invitational route, or the other route I run in that area. CyLowe you have ridden both of them. You know they aren't anything special.

I'm open to good suggestions that will give us an opportunity to find water/food every 30-40 miles or so....just can't start uber far away.

They're old enough to ride it with us. If not then I say you get strapped with a steel trail-a-bike....if not I say you get strapped with a trailer.

You'd still beat us back.

Just might be fun, like getting out and back early. Back in 2005 did a double on the first Saturday of summer, one will be just fine this year!

Let's hear some ideas CyLowe....if not we're just going to do either the Psimet Invitational or the pre-Psimet century. In which case we'll either start in Hampshire or Paul Wolff Park on Big Timber just West of Randall.

It is still too early to tell, however rain is supposed to move in by 9 am tomorrow. If the weather looks bad I might do this ride that starts at 7 am instead. It is only between 35 and 40 miles, but it is fast.

Did I mention this is a fast ride?

I'm not calling anyting on account of weather until I get a lot closer to the time. They are not too good with prediction around here. ;)

I'm good with either of those options.

Sounds like fun, but with the weather being uncertain, and the long drive out that way I think I'll pass. I'll probably head out behind my house doing my usual loop, and hit part of the Ramble and Harmon routes.

Weather permitting, I plan on doing the Harper ride tomorrow morning. It looks like the rain shouldn't start till 9 or so. If that is the case we should be back by then.

The group meets at the Northwest side of the campus. It is best to enter off Roselle Road. They roll out at 7am.

I'm putting the route together right now. Let's plan on starting at 5:30 in the parking lot just South of here...link (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Paul+Wolff+Park,+il&sll=42.07083,-88.37088&sspn=1.174348,2.834473&ie=UTF8&ll=42.072934,-88.35896&spn=0.009174,0.022144&z=16&iwloc=addr).

Call me if you are unsure of how to get there or are running late. I don't think it's going to rain, but starting at 5:30 we'll be mostly done if it does. The route will have a lot of options to cut it short if needed. There are 2 gas stations we will pass by a total of 3 times. Bring $ for water/food, etc. Whatever you need.

I will post the route later. Being a dad right now, and had to be an employee earlier.

Anyone want to carpool?

Just kidding! This is truly a local century for me. Riding to and from the ride will take all of 5 minutes. :D

See you all at 5:30.

Back. Got rained on. Good ride though. The rain wasn't too bad. Kind of like if you had to pick what type of rain you would have this would have been it.

Great ride! Sore. Shower. Eat. Parent.

I did not feel like getting up at 4 am to get rained on, however it seems you determined guys still had a good ride.

I got my butt kicked at the Harper ride this morning, and the rain started just when i finished.
