Touring - DT Swiss ALpine III spokes fit on Shimano XT hub?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. DT swiss states that the Spoke Hole of the hub must be 2.5mm or larger...anyone know if the Shimano XT hubs will accept these? What about the new XT M775 hubs?

Thanks

No idea, and you are wise to ask. I do wonder though, if their spokes don't fit shimano it can't be much of a business. Maybe a trip over to Peter White's site would give you some info on wheelsets and their components. No point in reinventing the wheel.

Hmm, no info about the spoke hole on Peter's site(or Shimano's site for that matter)

I'm going to check to see if we have any Alpine III spokes in stock, and a Shimano hub. I'll report back tomorrow :D

I work at a shop as a Mechanic but I'm sitting here trying to pencil all the parts down for the trekking bike build.

Sorry that was no help. I did a search on DT III in this forum and found all maner of contradictory informations. Some people are drilling the holes out others are using washers. Seems to be a moving target. I would be interested in what you find; I have a front XT hub to lace at some point, and was getting worked up to try the DT III after all of Cycocomute's advocacy over the years.

I just swapped out an XT hub for a Phil this spring. Both were laced with Alpines and neither had issues. I'm not sure what the model number on the XT is. It's about 3 years old.

I've built 7 wheels with the Alpines now with either XT hubs (1999 version and a newer one, both rears), a Campy Record (very old 36 hole hub) or Phil (1 each front and rear) and not had any issues with getting the spoke through the hub flange.
