I have a friend from work that is interested in bicycling, but doesn't think he'd feel comfortable on a bicycle. He's in his 60s and weighs about 280 and would like to get some exercise, so I told him I'd ask around about places he might find a selection of tricycles.
I'm just wondering if there are any local places he can go and check out tricycles at. He lives near Spanaway, so closer to there would be great, though we work in Kent, so somewhere in between wouldn't be bad either.

The closest shop would be Bike Tech on Bridgeport in Lakewood, though I don't remember seeing any on the floor the couple of times I have been in there. Keep a close eye on Craigslist there are always one or two on list. Currently there is 1 adult 3 wheeler but 4 tadpoles listed for sale, but it's in Kirkland.

I was looking into recumbent trikes for a coworker. It's worth noting that the Sun Brand ones that seem to be the predominant entry-level ones (that BikeTech is a dealer for, whether or not they stock'em) have weight-ratings, one is 300# and another is 400#. LBS that I prefer said they can order them, so maybe any shop can order them, but they couldn't bring them in just for a test-ride.

Very much appreciated. I'll pass the info along to him tonight. I'll be checking this frequently as normal, though I don't think he's looking at purchasing immediately, so checking CL for a deal for him might be an option as well.

I believe Bonney Lake Bicycles in Sumner has a recumbent trike that they have been sitting on for quite awhile........

A little out of your way, up on the Sea-Tac hill, is Angle Lake Cyclery. They've got a very good selection of all levels of both trikes and recumbent bicycles. Dale is a great guy who will make sure that you're getting the right bike for you within the budget. They also carry the Rans crank-forward bikes, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
Be warned, though, the store usually looks like a tornado has just passed through.
