My sled has 38cm tires on it, i was thinking of putting a 45cm on the rear.
the bike can take one even with the fender on it. Has any one tried it?
what was the ride quality like?

Hi,
A couple years ago i rode a hybrid with huge tires on it. It was very slow. Weight on the wheels really slows you down. OTOH, the tires were invulnerable. I rode through all sorts of crap; I didn't go out of my way but I was hoping neglect would kill them. It didn't. They weren't fancy, either, just a cheap Asian made tire that was made like a motorcycle tire. Hell, it may have been a motorcycle tire.

Thanks; I have 38's on now and I'm not breaking any land speed records.
I was wondering more inregards to tracking; Planing on going down to Tierra del fuego this fall.

Ahh,
expedition touring. That, as the saying goes, is a horse of a different color.
I would phrase this question a little differently. What I would ask is this....'What's the best tire for touring in South America? My guess would be Conti Top Touring; but you really should find someone who has done that sort of thing.
