On the master route map, at the top right, labeled Tour Frequencies...it's HAM monitoring. Not a bad idea for a big ride. I get it now.

The wife and I are thinking about it--I figure we probably will. That would give us this one and then the Goatneck the next weekend.
We are trying to decide if we want to try this one on our tandem. It would be our first big ride on it. If we do the tandem we would do the 25 mile route. If we are on the singles we will probably go for the 40.
BTW--those numbers are the frequencies of ham radio "repeaters". (They are re-transmission "sites" that take the weak signals from the individual ham's radios and "rebroadcast" them over a much wider area with much greater power. Since they are usually located at a very high position (on top of buildings or antenna towers) they can cover a much larger area. (FM signals are limited to "line-of-sight" distances so the higher the better!))

I'm considering it as well. Not sure what distance, probably something in the 50+mi range.

Yeah I'd LIKE to do the 100k, though realistically I'll end up doing 40 or 50miles. Doesn't look as hard as the Collin Classic...though its a loooong gradual climb at the end.
My Wife will probably do the 15K urban route.

Please tell me you were referring to the Collin Classic and NOT the Tour Paris in your first comment.
(whimpers) I was whining to myself for the last 5 or 6 miles. Bonking is no fun. Should have looked at the elevation view of the route first and taken it easier over the first half.

How is the Paris ride compared to the CC?

Yes I think they have everyone going through a loop of the town before heading out (15K route) My wife will be doing just that bit. (Hope there are no antique stores on the route...I can't afford THAT!)

My wife just sent me an email saying we should do this one (and I'm not teaching).
Probably do the either the 47k or 70K which I think in actuality are 29.4 and 44.3 miles respectively.
Not sure about where to stay, we will probably just leave DFW around 5am and drive up.

Made it out there, rode the 75K and survived and actually had fun. The rollers towards the last weren't bad at all.

Planned on riding the 70K and wound up bailing at the 40K turnoff with MAJOR chafing issues. I even thought about sagging in, but managed to do some rearranging that kept it to a more manageable level.

At mile 16 or so on a climb, I felt a disquieting shift and developed a small wobble in the rear wheel. It was bad enough by the next rest station that I thought I had popped a spoke. No broken spokes...but my wheel had come badly out of alignment. I wound up opening my back brake and limped in to the finish with only the front brake.
