Alright, so I'm trying to strip my bicycle down to the frame as far as components go, so I can get into painting it, and I'm having an issue getting off the crank cap.

It's solid and metal, and for the life of me, I can't think of how to get it off.

I need to be checking Sheldon Brown's site more often...

Picture, please. Or descriptive words. Can't pry it off with a small screwdriver or knife tip?

What's on the face of the cap? Typically there's a slot for a big flat screwdriver. Others have a 5mm allen-key hole. Some have two holes for a pin-tool. Usually if the 5mm allen-key hole is stripped, I'll just drill two holes to fit the pin tool.
