Does depend on whether it is an integrated headset- or a conventional fitting.
One make that most will recommend is Cane Creek. They do both types and a lot of qualities.
No the frame requires an integrated headset. ----- I'm really clueless as to which one to purchase. Lp

A nice middle of the road unit like the Cane Creek IS-6. Not too warm, not too cool, not too big and not too small. The ideal headset For a 50+ rider

If you mean you do not know which integrated headset you need, check here:

OK, you need to read that BD CF group buy/build thread again...
If you are getting that frame (or any newer frame that needs an "integrated headset"), you can probably use the Cane Creek IS-2. That is the one I got for the BD frame. I had my LBS order it for me, although I could have got it mail order from a number of places. They put the lower crown race on the fork for nothing...about a 30 second job for the mechanic, using the correct tools. Later, after I had figured out how long to leave the steerer tube on the fork, he cut it for me also.
Be sure you get the proper 'type' for the frame...there's the 'standard' type and a type for Campagnolo/Italian type frames (IS-2i). The frame maker should specify what type of headset to use.
See this Cane Creek web page:

The IS-8 and IS-6 are just a fancier (more $$) version of the IS-2. It's been working just fine.
Skiph thanks for the heads up on the thread. I have ordered the IS 2 BTW went with the Bottecchia in a 61cm. Should be here in a few days. Lane ---- Lp
