I picked up a Surly Cross-Check awhile ago, and would like to put on some custom decals. Nothing too fancy, just a black and white logo. As far as I can tell, all the Surly decals are on top of the paint job.
Awhile ago I picked up some inkjet "ultra cling" papers:

There is some kind of adhesive on the backing, although I'm not sure what it is. The manufacturer says it's safe, of course. ;)
I did use it with some success on a bike, but only left it on for a few weeks. What concerns me is that I could need to take the ultra cling off one day, and wind up taking a bunch of paint with it.
Is there a better way to custom decals? Or is this kind of thing pretty much the same as what you'd use with a decal?
