Bicycle Mechanics - Did I rupture come sort of bearing in my pedal?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

One of my Wellgo LU-961 pedals started creaking badly and i noticed some sort of greasy goo on the crank arm side of the spindle where the moving and non-moving part of the pedal meets. I'm thinking I ruptured some sort of bearing in the pedal and the grease is from inside the spindle mechanism, i've never applied any sort of grease myself to those newish pedals...any thoughts. I've attached a pic.
I don't think so. Do they still spin smooth?

The one pedal spins ok, but now creaks a lot when mashing down on the pedal...the other pedal is fine--no grease and no creaking. The creaking and the grease emission occurred pretty much simultaneously.
sometimes (most of the time?) pedals come from the pedal factory poorly adjusted. Yours might need adjustment, maybe some new grease in the right places.
