I am going to be staying here for a week in July and would love to get in at least one ride. Do any locals know of a good shop that rents and a decent 30-40 miles in the Ritz area?

www.villagebikes.com (http://www.villagebikes.com) rents bicycles. From my experience they are a good shop. The folks there can probably tell you some good routes. Longboat Key has bike lanes and is great for riding.

The ride from St Armands Circle north to Manatee County on Long Boat Key is great. Go early, and bring your water bottles, its as humid as South Vietnamese jungle here in July.

If you have time, there is a very large, organized group ride in St Petersburg on saturday mornings. Google St Petersburg bicycle club.
