I'm trying to plan a route to go from Vashon Island, Wa to Poulsbo, Wa. I would like to go around the Sound, trough Tacoma, instead of a direct route. I would also like to do this all in one go.

This (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=vashon&daddr=47.098175,-123.089447+to:Poulsbo&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&sll=47.172911,-122.895813&sspn=0.420096,0.834961&ie=UTF8&ll=47.672786,-122.555237&spn=0.416126,0.834961&t=h&z=10) is a mock route to show you what I thinking of.

Does any one know a good, and safe route to take?

Thank You,
-Jai

have you ever ridden Vashon (southworth) to Poulsbo around the HOOD CANAL? It's a lot more pleasant than the first half of your route..... would make up for the different approach... For a pleasure ride, I'm not riding between olympia and tacoma, but that's me. someone further south might have the inside skinny on a pleasant route, it usually is a pretty tedious place to ride IMO.

I haven't thought of that. That seems like a better idea. Thank you.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=vashon&daddr=47.4253,-123.125153+to:Poulsbo&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&dirflg=h&sll=47.50607,-123.118286&sspn=0.475893,1.441956&ie=UTF8&ll=47.537601,-122.912292&spn=0.951208,2.883911&t=h&z=9) route?

I should let you know that I'm pretty new to this area, so I don't have much idea what I'm getting into.

Thank You,
-Jai

Hi,

I have not done these rides, have researched several. Here's one near you that is supposed to be great. I think it would have a lot less traffic than the one you're suggesting (though I know the one you're showing is supposed to be good, too...

Here's a couple of Puget Sound rides from the Seattle Bicycle Touring Club.

Also, you could ride from Southworth to Poulsbo...Poulsbo to Bainbridge Island...do the Chilly Hill route (google it) around Bainbridge...ferry to Seattle....ride down the waterfront to catch ferry back to Vashon...

You might check out the Seattle International Randonneurs web page: http://www.seattlerandonneur.org/index.php

If you look under "Permanents" there are routes in the South & Olympic/Kitsap Peninsula sections that might be helpful for what you want to do.
