How many dudes here like Fiona Apple? I am just wondering if I'm the only one.

Fiona apple of 10 years ago, the one that looks like she was on crack? or a more recent version?

She looks better now that she has put on 15 or 20 lbs and I am assuming has gotten of the drugs.

Sometimes it feels like you are being beaten down by mediocrity in life then something great like Fiona Apple comes along

When I hear the word "chanteuse" I immediately think of Fiona Apple. She's really quite something. And I'm glad she seems to have gotten over her anorexia.

I've been watching and re-watching the Criminal video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTpvjNn2BUM), and I have to disagree with folks. It works. Her (literal) anorexia is on full display, but it makes such a tension with that big, fat sultry voice. She looks fragile, but the voice is so strong. It's uncomfortable to watch, but powerful, and yeah, sexy. Another "I know it's wrong, but." The other tension is between the words and her image--SHE feels guilty because she's been "careless with a delicate man," and you believe it looking at her face (those eyes, damn), but then her naked shoulder blades make her look like something made out of matchsticks...

This tends to be an accusation fatter-than-average Americans like to throw around pretty lightly nowadays, but some folks are just naturally slim, and she's always been pretty vocal about being a vegan, so, if anyone has any links to throw up about her purported eating disorder...?

I usually hate the hyper quick-cut editing that MTV celebrated, but it works in the Criminal Video, the cuts thematically relate, and the director gives cues of what's coming so your brain threads it together. Like, the TV rising up from the surface of the floor (showing static), her face raising from the surface of the water, the screen then showing her face, then cut to photographs showing her image again, another perspective. Also, the entire video is framed with her as the photographer, but then again her eyes glow red as in a flash as the filmed. A lot to look at. She "needs to make a play/to make her lover stay." Yeah, right.
