Here is a bike I picked up tonight from CL after lurking on bikeforums (mostly in commute, but I won't be their speed for awhile...). Just graduated finally at 31 with my BS in Info Systems Mgt (systems analysis) and I work for a small software company....

Oh, yeah, you wanted to see the bike!

the paint is still glossy, though I don't what year frame this is-its got to be older based on the geometry that I see on the newer ones. I'm currently 277, down from 289 a month ago just by watching what I eat and measuring it on the average (hackers diet and physicsdiet.com). Im looking to ride at night around one of our local parks with a lake and then start commuting to work to save gas in the next month or so.

Viva la bike!

Looks like a excellent find! Congrats! Ride her into the ground!!!
If your going to ride her mainly on thr road, throw some tires that are more streetable. I picked up some Kevlar lined 1.75 tires at Performance for $9 ea. It made the bike have a smoother ride and a little easier to pedal on the road.

Have Fun!!!

yeah, its got knobbies on there. Im going to warm them up and then look for some hybrid slicks, maybe like Kona puts on their Smokes.

I paid 125.00 for that up above, too-I feel I got a pretty good deal considering that, absent the bit of grime on the lower cable run under the cranks, its basically new. The tires still have tire hair on them.

Great deal! I love Craigs List too, and don't understand why more people aren't using it to buy their rides. I just picked up a Novara Randonee for my wife on Craigs List for $200.

You might want to consider slicks. I bought a set of the Nashbar brand, 26 x 1.25 as I recall, on one of their many sales. They work well.

my last 2 bikes were CL finds.. A nice Surly Crosscheck and Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra..

If I bring another bike home there might be trouble..

That's an old-school HR. Early 90s I believe.

IF it has Shimano bits. they'll have a date code on them.
From the left side, look at the inner side of the FDER cage for a 2 letter Code. (that seems to be the easiest one to see)
First letter is year and second is the month.
A=1976 and repeats in 2002. I O are used.
