Road Cycling - SPD-Sl Pedals

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just got a free pair of used SPD-SL pedals. In stalled eight pedal to test with look cleat. Seemed to clip in just fine, but releases only when I twist foot toward cranks. This is weird isn't it? I have 3 bikes and one set of clipless pedals so I was very happy to have this pair for my fixed gear.
Anyone else use these and experience the same thing? Is it something one gets used to? Seems a bit weird to me.

I haven't had that problem. Maybe the tension is set too high. There is a release tension setting on the back of the peddle.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but are the cleats right and left foot specific?

I'm still trying to decipher this sentence, but it sounds like you are trying to use SPD-SL pedals with Look cleats. Is that the case? Because I'm sure that would cause problems.

I agree, at least the one time I tried to use my bike shoes with look cleats on SPD pedals. Sounds like a good way to get hurt.
