I'll be visiting and staying about a mile west of I-75/Fowler and looking for 20 to 50 mile road rides in the area. Would prefer riding straight from my front door in the early morning before the family gets in motion for the day, rather than putting the bike in the car and driving off somewhere. I've been to the area before and don't mind riding on some of the major roads for a bit if it will get me to the better riding. Hills would be nice but that's probably asking too much. :D Any suggestions?

plenty of year round riding, just be careful...cars aren't all that observent of cyclists here in Tampa. We're still if I remember correctly, on the distinguished list of shame - top 10 most dangerous places to ride.

Head north towards the Dade City area. Some of the best riding in Florida is up that way.

You're not too far from Flatwoods Park (off Morris Bridge/Fletcher). It has a 7-mile paved loop that gets you away from traffic. It also has off-road paths if you do that type of riding. I haven't been there in a while but used to do multiple loops there. The natural surroundings made it a treat. I agree with thatguy that the Dade City area offers superb riding.
