Bicycle Mechanics - Old threaded Shimano hub + track cog = cheap track wheel?

I have an old threaded Shimano threaded hub from which I have removed the freewheel. Now, if I screw on a track cog and a lockring, will this work as an el-cheapo fixed gear wheel? Or am I missing something? Sheldon's page---- http://www.sheldonbrown.com/freewheels.html#shimano ----leads me to believe it might work out okay, what do y'all think?

It's called a suicide setup for a reason. If you *must* run a wheel like that, i'd red loctite or jb weld that cog on. Frankly if you have the money, i'd rather get a low quality track rear wheel than a setup like that.

ive done it with no ill effects. Run 2 brakes, and I don't see how it would be an issue.

Ah, I didn't realize that this was a suicide hub. I thought a suicide hub had to do with re-dishing the wheel.

So, perhaps a better idea would be to thread a single-speed freewheel on there and run some brakes? That will work, right? Or will a chainline become a new issue?

either way, you will probably need to re-dish/re-space the wheel to get the correct chainline.
