Bicycle Mechanics - Messed up U-lock fitting "gadget"

This has got to be my dumbest post ever but bare with me... =)
I decided to invest 59 gbp on a new U-lock from the Abus line.
Tired, hungry, happy and really not in my logic "fixing mood" (If I ever had one) I try to fit the "click-attachment" to the frame .... And I somehow manage to reck it!:bang::thumb:
So what do I do?
Is there any other way to carry my lock with me without having to lug it around in my backpack?
Any tips on alternative ways to attach it to the frame?
Or is it possible to buy the attachment "gadget" on its own?
Im sure as hell not buying a new lock just because I´m an idiot even when it comes to the simplest "do-it-yourself".

Thankful for all the tips and help I can get.

There's a pretty good chance that the mounting bracket is sold separately, since it's likely that you can have multiple bikes for one lock. Check the manufacturer's web page.

You may be able to beg/borrow/steal one. I know I never used mine for my kryptonite lock.

Depends on how thick (diameter) the 'u' portion of your lock is. Master Lock has an old school bracket that's very well made and almost bulletproof, when compared to the other brackets that come with even the most expensive u-locks and seemingly break easily (the bracket, not the lock):

Yes, my pannier with is also a backpack. My wife locks hers to her rear rack.

I like riding with my lock in my backpack. The total mass of you and the bike remains the same but having the mass on my back rather than the bike keeps the bike more nimble. With the type of riding I do it probably doesn't matter, but just a thought...

Yea, I have two bottle cages so I just didn't have space on my bike.
