:) Ride Number 13 – 50 Miles. Well it was a gorgeous day for my birthday ride. I met a friend – Jack – at the trail head of the Silver Comet. Jack of course is a super biker whom I met on Ride Number 12...He generously agreed to come ride with me on my birthday. He rode form his house (15 miles) to meet me for the ride. We started at Mile 0 on the Silver Comet. I had never been to the beginning of the trail before – and it was great! I loved starting at the beginning. Almost like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz…
So off we went. We rode off. .and it was a ton of fun to have someone that would ride with me and chat along the way. Jack has been riding for years …dreams of doing the ride across America- so is a great ride buddy for the newcomer to the world of biking.
We saw 2 wild turkeys. They were big and cool birds.
I asked Jack to take pictures of me so I could have a post with pics....see i listened to y'all...…then we stopped some bikers and had them take pictures of us at the halfway point.
The plan was to go a minimum of 45 (my age) miles…and we ended up doing 50. I held up pretty well – but towards the end my butt (or well…umm parts) hurt as well as the bottom of my feet. And later notice my wrists were a bit sore….Otherwise I was doing fine.
So 50 miles…50.2 miles +- 3.37 hours riding time….
So tomorrow my plan was to do a ride with a group in town – but upon the advice of my wise Ride partner – Jack- I may skip it and give my body a chance to heal. And in the afternoon a riding club has a get together at a bar. So cool I get a chance to meet more cyclists!
OK pictures are below…. I swear I thought by now I would be thinner – oh well. I feel good!
Jack - rode ahead a bit and took this photo...did I say he was very talented?

Next - he shot one of me along side:

Here we are at the halfway point:

That's it...And that's how to have a birthday!
