YEs you could however, you are better off with tri-specific shorts which these are not. Tri-shorts have all the benefits of jammers, and also some padding for the bike ride as well, to keep everything comfortable and in its place.
This is what you need:

If you're doing a sprint, swim jammers are fine. Once you get up to Olympic, you'll probably want the tri shorts.

Thanks, I'm definitely starting out sprint distance and probably in a year I'll do longer distances.

Did my first try, an Oly, in jammers. No problem with anything whatsoever (related to the shorts that is). I think if you are used to riding with padded shorts then you might want tri shorts but if not, jammers will be fine.

I have completed 2 sprint tri's. I wore Pearl Izumi tri shorts in both. They are a pair about 2 years old, and do not have an insert. The newer pairs have a thin insert.
+1 that if you're doing a sprint, you're not going to be on the bike long enough to really miss the pad (IMO). If you decide to do more in the future, and longer distances, you may be a bit more comfortable with the tri shorts.
Jim <-- did my first two Sprints in Tyr jammers.
