Can anyone recommend Thudbuster ST or LT? And which elastomers? I way 230 and ride a MTB on paved road. Bumpy, but mostly paved. Or are these things a gimic?

They're kind of a gimmick, especially with larger riders who are too heavy for the elastomer. The other bad thing about them is that they change the position of the saddle while compressing. In my opinion, don't bother.

They are expensive, but I wouldn't invest in them without some response from people my weight that actually have used them.

I stand up for riding up curbs and other heavy stuff, but I don't always catch the smaller potholes and bigger cracks in time. When I feel a big thump in the front suspension I am pretty good at standing up, but I underestimate the bump sometimes.

Agreed with V1k1ng, the thudbuster is a waste of your $$, as a Clyde. Use your legs to soften the ride, it's good for your strength, anyway. If you do want some spring n the saddle, look at some of Brooks Sprung saddles, like the B67 if you ride upright, or a narrower one if you ride a road bike.

I heard a lot of Brooks saddle positive comments, and the occasional you need special padded shorts, and it is uncomfortable until you break it in negative comments. Which left me still on the quest for a perfect saddle. I removed my standard bontrager saddle for a selle royal ergogel saddle and I am not too happy with it yet. It feels better in some ways and worse in others.

Do springs on the B67 bottom out easy? I didn't see a recommended weight limit on any websites that sell them yet.

Don't sweat the weight, at 230, you are well within any weight limit. ;)
