If you guys remember, I posted a couple of months ago about buying a flute that was in disrepair. Well, a week ago, we had it repaired, plus teh bf got another better model, so he gave the older one to me. We've been happily tooting along together, and oh my! HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY. I'd forgotten what it's like learning a new instrument--the joys of mastering new techniques, the rejoicing of everyone's ears when you progress from squeaks and screeches to proper sounds... It's an absolute pleasure. I haven't had this much fun with scales since I started learning the violin. And getting through a piece--absolutely marvelous, even if I still stumble a whole lot! :D
Well, just sharing my giddy moment of the day. What's your musically-related giddy moment?

Oh my...no good can come of this thread.
I, <silence> I am schooled in clarinet, saxiphone - and played oboe in high school and state classical final ensembles ...
However THAT was then and Beans are now.
Toot.
:D
We've been happily tooting along togetherYou know what they say, a couple that toots together, uhh... Well, you know.
Sounds like fun, though. One of these days, I'm going to pick up an instrument of some kind and try my hand at it. I played clarinet for a period in fifth grade, but I doubt I'd even know how to hold the thing these days.

When I was in the crowd with my Mother-in-Law at my wife's college graduation ceremony. She was a church soloist and I had my cycling lungs and a deep voice. When it was time for the National Anthem I keyed off of her tone and we dominated the Auditorium. We were near the back and I saw heads turning towards us from all over the room.

With my abject lack of musical talent, playing a new CD is as close as it gets. :o
Once you master the instrument, perhaps you should see how it goes when you play each others'. ;)

The best I've seen yet was the seven foot long pipe made of pvc plumbing. It took two people to operate: one to draw on it and the other to light the bowl, since the smoker couldn't reach the bowl. Unless, you know, you had seven foot long arms.

What make/model flute did you get? I'm thinking about getting one for my wife. She's been talking about taking it up again.
